Ok, so other than giving all the illness details, the point of that was that the doctor said today that she hopes Aidan stays well. And that if he gets messed up again w/congestion and breathing to the point of needing albuterol again (it’s now been 2 times he’s needed it, and he came close another time) and that’s all 3 times he was pretty sick w/a cold…anyway, if he needs it again then we’ll “start using the word asthma perhaps” the doctor said. So I’m hoping that’s not the case, but it’s in God’s hands…it just has to be, I have run out of hands ;)

Ok, so it’s been a while, so sue me! hehe…

General updates…

Ashley decided *not* to move to Oregon so we still have our rockin’ babysitter! Woo hoo! Plus Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Don love having Aidan over to their house…and of course Aidan loves playing with Jake the dog. Now if we could only get Aidan to stop calling Muffy the cat “dog”, hehe :) Ok, and I won’t lie I am fond of the fact that grandparents babysit for FREE … and that’s just wonderful!

Ok, about Paul and his visit…it was so wonderful. We got to see him twice. The Sunday he was here we all gathered at his grandparents’ house (from his mother’s side) and had a great dinner. We also got to meet his daughter Haley. Paul just recently (within the last year) found out he had a daughter and he is the cutest dad!! And what about Haley? Well she is SOOOO much like Nick and Paul…it’s weird, just weird, and great. I can’t believe that even though they’ve not been around each other how much they are all alike. Haley mostly reminds me of Nick’s younger sister Sarah. So smart and always ready with something witty to say.

Other updates…

We just got done with 2 and a half weeks of Aidan being sick… he started at night on August 1st with a 102 fever…so we kept him home on the 2nd. Then that evening and on the morning of the 3rd the fever was gone (so we thought) and we sent him off to daycare on the 3rd (Thursday). Well, I got a phone call that his temp rose while he was taking a nap to 103! So I made a doctor appointment and went to pick up the baby. As I picked him up, he threw up ALLL over me…my shoes, my legs, my shirt, my hair…ev-er-y-thing! This was on the porch at Pam’s house (Pam is our SUPER AWESOME in-home daycare provider). Pam got me cleaned up and Aidan and I set out to the doctor. Well, he had the stomach flu, so we got our liquids only instructions and bought our pedialyte and headed home. Then, he stayed home Friday the 4th. Saturday morning/afternoon-ish he seemed much better, fever gone, no throwing up, phew. So we gradually introduced more than pedialyte…something tells me milk shouldn’t have been on that little list…hmmmm. Anyway, after that mishap we were back on track. But then he seemed to have a bit of a stuffy nose…but nothing to “write home about” so we didn’t pay much attention to it. Then Sunday morning, he’d been GREAT, no stuffy nose, no fever, no throwing up, all good. So off to church we went….

Then Sunday evening (the 6th) the stuffy nose came back with a vengence. And then Monday it was horrid…well no daycare and back to the doctor we went. Well Nick and Aidan went. So I’m thinking no big deal, he’ll need a prescription maybe and all’s well. Not so fast…my work phone rings and it says it’s from St Jude Hospital….what?! It’s Nick calling me from the emergency respritory section telling me Aidan has pneumonia and has to get an emergency chest x-ray. Well don’t we just love that word “emergency”? Strikes fear into the heart doesn’t it. Well in typical mommy form I start firing a thousand questions at my poor husband and then I start crying. Poor guy, he just needed me to fax my insurance card to the hospital. Got that all done and tried to move on with the work day…Nick had it covered.

So then antibotics…

Then 2 days later on Wednesday the 9th we had to do a follow up appointment with the doctor. Aidan was getting worse…he needed Albuterol (basically asthma medicine). So we do that. Oh and at the doctor I was the recipient of a diaper blow out….once again ALL over me. I’m so lucky! Don’t you just love the side effects of antibiotics?

Well it went up and down like a roller coaster until Sunday morning. (Thankfully grandma and grandpa took Aidan Sat evening to give us a break…bless them bless them!!). Then light broke through the clouds and Aidan was able to go to daycare on Monday.

We just got back from our 2 week follow up today and Aidan is doing well, can cut down his Albuterol to once a day instead of 3 times a day, and he can take his last dose of antibiotics tonight! :) WOO HOO! And so that saga comes to a close.

Um more in a minute…I have to turn the chicken in the oven….
