Print must not be dead, because seeing myself in print has made me feel very alive! I was happy to have one of my OC Moms columns included in the Tues May 24, 2011 print edition of the Orange County Register. I thought I’d share a quick picture of the article in print. This is my first column in the paper, and I’m really honored to be part of the OC Moms section of the Register. I was next to a bunch of stuff about Oprah’s last show and her stunning career, and above the movie show times. If you get the OC Register, you can find the story on page 3 of the LIFE section.

I have read far too many stories lately about parents killing their children. When you get to a point where you think you’re going to lose it, just walk away. It’s better than the alternative. Or take the child to a hospital and say you’re a danger to yourself and others. Anything… anything but hurting your own child.

And one story tonight about foster parents beating a 2 year old to the point of being on life support from several injuries, including a fractured skull… I just can’t believe it.

On one hand I am grateful that I am not desensitized to the point where I just see stories like these and move on completely unaffected. On the other hand I hate that I am helpless to do anything for these little babies, and I have to try and just let it go. I am very passionate about this subject.

I’m sorry to say that there were a few times my mom wailed on me so badly I really thought I was going to be done if she didn’t stop raging. God protected me time and again. I saw a lot of abuse in different parts of my family, and I saw people just lose it completely for no good reason.

There is too much at stake here parents…these little ones are entrusted to us, please stop hurting your babies and children!

Quick Quake Info

Some posts I made on plurk regarding the quake… I’ll probably post more another time… all I have to say is it was NUTS on the 3rd floor of our crappy work building (seriously, the company that manages the building needs to stop “repairing” things and actually replace some stuff).

I ended up at Chris’ house icing my toe while I waited for Nick to check out our house before we got the kiddos from daycare

Daycare lady (Pam) had a bunch of stuff break (vases, glasses, etc) and the kids were screaming “help me” — my heart breaks for them…

I was screaming my head off during the quake because it caught me off guard so much and my computer tower fell on my big toe and it’s all blue and purple and still hurts pretty bad. I think everyone thought I was that scared of the quake, not that I wasn’t, but damn my toe hurt

And I couldn’t reach Pam on my cell afterward for a few minutes… so I cried in the parking lot because I couldn’t reach the kids.

That’s my story…. and hi all! :-)

ewwww GROSS!

Read this story on Yahoo! News about how your computer keyboard is most likely dirtier than a TOILET!!!!

Airborne Grounded

False claims by the company cause a massive settlement.

Check out the story here. Sorry, it’s a video, couldn’t find text on it, but it’s actually worth the watch.

My aunt was on channel 7 just now. They edited the heck out of her, hehe. But she said she’s probably rescheuduling an eye doc appt for my cousin so she doesn’t end up at school on Friday.

Anyway – hope all is well, and yes I hope it is just a prank, but I hope the school is more responsive to the students regarding their questions.

My aunt said in her interview that she had to find out about the issue from me and not the school, but they cut that out.

Channel 7

My aunt just called – says she was interviewed by ABC 7 about the threat. Waiting to watch it now…

Scary HS Threat

My alma mater (Savanna High School) had a threat get into the school paper… you can read about it here.

My cousin goes there now – she’s a sophomore. I am livid at what she’s shared with me – basically that none of the teachers are taking it remotely serious. And that not only were parents not informed about any of this, but the students are mostly in the dark as well. Kids are only finding out as rumors spread.

I think the lady who has been on the news and is quoted in the article in the OC register (Pat Karlak) is a pompass ASS for ignoring the severity of the possibility of violence on campus. She said the following 3 assanine things:

“We believe it to be an innocent prank, but we never-the-less have responded to it in a serious fashion.”

“Police are on campus today and at least through Friday.”

“I think with the attention this is getting the campus of Savanna High School will be one of the safest places in Anaheim this week.”

Well apparently people in the good ol’ AUHSD don’t watch the effing news anymore. I am not saying to live as a paranoid schitzo, but if militia stuff (sound familiar from other shootings?) is being mentioned and there is a date, etc – they should be doing more. I am a Savanna Alumni and an AUHSD former employee – can’t believe the newer blood they have in there these days.

I get that the news is reporting all the police presence, but when I am the one calling my aunt to let her know about this and my cousin is telling me that teachers are telling kids to relax and get over it and those kids are getting in trouble for asking questions about it…. well that’s a bunch of B.S. The threat alone could scare some kids enough as it is – even if it is a “joke”.

I am hoping my aunt keeps my cousin home from school on Friday. We all remember Fridays in HS – missing one isn’t going to be that big of a deal regardless of the severity of the threat or prank.

Oh yah, the school paper this was in came out last week … still people aren’t knowing about it. Total CRAP.

I will post about our trip to Sea World along with some photos tomorrow…

The sad news is about a boy who lived upstairs from us in our complex. Please please please pray for his family. I saw an RIP David message in the family parking space Wednesday and wondered what happened. Then tons of people started visiting upstairs from Wednesday on. There are still people there now.

I looked on the OC Register website to see if I could find out what happened. I found this article and just cried for this poor grieving family. The family is actually facing financial hardship due to the funeral expenses so the article gives info on how to donate if you can. I know that no one reading this blog knows this family, but that doesn’t really matter all the time. I don’t really know them except that they would ride their skateboards a lot and David and his brothers say hi to Aidan. Aidan gets really excited when he sees them riding around.

Anyhow, it’s just sad, and I feel so weird knowing how much pain everyone upstairs from us is in. If anyone who knew David reads this my heart goes out to you and you are in our family prayers.

Once all the visitors subside I will see if there is a moment I can subtly see if I can offer any help making a meal or two for them or something like that.

UPDATE: I just got a chance to speak with David’s father. He actually came to say hi to me and apologize for all the noise upstairs as they move stuff around. Of course I told him not to even give it a second thought. They are moving to an apartment across the complex, so I am glad they will still be in the community. He is a very nice man and I offered any help I could to him and their family. Please again, if you are a praying person, pray for them… this is so hard for them. I hope the new apartment allows them a bit of a fresh start. God love this family and help David’s brothers to stick together to get through all of this. Thanks to everyone who reads this and sends up a prayer.

Can you imagine getting turned away from 9 hospitals and losing your baby? This is ridiculous!
